Tile in Newberg, OR
Tile showers are one of the things we specialise in, and they are the job in this trade where the difference between good and bad work is completely invisible on handover day. Anyone can set tile that looks straight. What determines whether a shower is still sound in fifteen years is the waterproofing system behind it, and that is the part we will talk to you about first. Installed by our own crew across Newberg.

Built for Newberg homes.
Newberg is home for us. The town was platted in 1883 and incorporated in 1889, and it has grown from 22,068 people in 2010 to a little over 26,000 today. George Fox University has anchored the place since 1885, and the Hoover-Minthorn House downtown was Herbert Hoover's boyhood home. That history shows up in the floors: settled century-old houses near the university, and post-1970 subdivisions on the edges of town where the subfloor is flat and the work is predictable.
Our showroom is at 900 Industrial Parkway, so Newberg is the one town where we can be back the same afternoon if a subfloor needs a second look. Newberg averages just under 40 inches of rain a year, with July averaging around 80 degrees and winter lows near 34 — a wide swing for a house to absorb over twelve months. Laminate and LVP get acclimated in the room they will actually live in, and set with real expansion gaps behind the base.
Skipping that is the single most common reason a floor peaks or gaps a year after it went down. In the older blocks near downtown and the university, plan on subfloor prep and trim scribed to walls that stopped being straight decades ago.

Tile in Newberg, questions
Do you have a showroom in Newberg?
Yes. We are at 900 Industrial Parkway in Newberg, open Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. You can see and handle full samples there, which matters more than it sounds — carpet density and the wear layer on LVP are things you judge with your hands, not from a photo.
How does the Willamette Valley climate affect what I should put down?
Newberg gets close to 40 inches of rain a year and then dries out into warm summers. That swing moves flooring. It is not a reason to avoid laminate or LVP — it is a reason to acclimate the material in the room first and leave proper expansion space at every wall and transition. Done right, the seasonal movement disappears under the baseboard where it belongs.
We have a 1910 house near downtown. Is that a problem?
It is normal work for us, it just needs honest prep. Older Newberg homes have plank subfloors, rooms that are out of square, and original trim worth keeping. We level what needs levelling and scribe to the walls you actually have. What we will not do is float a floor over a subfloor that should have been fixed first.
Do you repair an existing tile shower?
Generally not, and it is better to say so up front. We do not take on repair work for hard surface flooring, tile or countertops on projects we did not install. With a shower the reason is specific: the waterproofing is buried behind the tile, we cannot inspect it, and patching the visible part of a system that may already have failed does you no favours. If we built it, that is a different conversation.
Is grout waterproof?
No, and this is the most common misunderstanding about showers. Grout is a filler between tiles and it lets water through. Sealing it helps with staining and slows things down, but the thing actually keeping water out of your wall is the membrane and pan behind the tile. That is why we spend the time there rather than on the part you can see.
How long does a tile shower take?
Longer than people expect, because the sequence has waiting in it — the waterproofing has to cure before tile goes on, and the setting mortar has to cure before grouting. Rushing any of those stages is how failures start. We will give you a realistic schedule at the estimate, including the days when nothing appears to be happening.
