About Norman's Floor Covering

Normans Carpets Inc has been established in Newberg since 1978, trading as Norman’s Floor Covering. That is forty-eight years of working in the same valley, on the same housing stock, for a lot of the same families — and it is the reason we can usually tell you what is under your carpet before we lift it.

We are a full-service shop with four specialties: carpet, laminate and luxury vinyl plank, tile showers, and quartz counters. Between them those cover most of what a house actually needs, which means one measure, one schedule, one crew, and one company answering for the result.

We are licensed with the Oregon Construction Contractors Board under CCB 103259, and we carry a ten year labor warranty on our installation work.

We measure in person. A number produced over the phone is a guess, and guesses turn into change orders on install day, which is the worst possible moment for anyone to be discussing money. Coming out to look also means we see the subfloor, which is what actually decides whether a job is straightforward or not.

We would rather talk you into the right product than the expensive one. Carpet density matters more than how a sample feels in your hand; the wear layer on a vinyl plank matters more than the color; laminate beats LVP in a living room and loses to it in a bathroom. Those conversations take twenty minutes and they are the difference between a floor you are happy with in year eight and one you are not.

And we are clear about what we do not do. We do not take on repair work for hard surface flooring, tile or countertops on projects we did not install, because we cannot warrant a system we did not build and cannot see. We do carry out carpet re-stretches, though new flooring is the bulk of our week. Smaller projects are welcome, with a minimum on any job.
